Sugar beet, Kazakhstan, 2023, Boron

CROP: Sugar beet, "Evgeniya KVS" variety

PRODUCT: Boron (foliar application)

YEAR:  2023

COUNTRY: Kazakhstan

TESTER: Experimental base of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution "Federal Scientific Center of Biological Plant Protection"

APPLICATION:

  1. Control. NPK background.
  2. Background NPK + Boron. Foliar application: 1st - in the phase of 4-6 true leaves, 2nd - in the phase of closing leaves in rows, Boron consumption - 1.5 kg/ha, working solution consumption - 300 l/ha.
  3. Background NPK + Boron. Foliar application: 1st - in the phase of 4-6 true leaves, 2nd - in the phase of closing leaves in rows, Boron consumption - 2.0 kg/ha, working solution consumption - 300 l/ha.
  4. Background NPK + Boron. Foliar application: 1st - in the phase of 4-6 true leaves, 2nd - in the phase of closing leaves in rows, Boron consumption - 3.0 kg/ha, working solution consumption - 300 l/ha.

Trial plots area – 100 m², observed plots area – 25 m². Trial repetitiveness — four times.

RESULT:

  1. Yield increase compared to control with NPK background ranged from 0.86% to 3.79%.
  2. The yield increase occurred due to an improvement in the yield structure.
  3. Tuber weight increased by 10.3-42.9%, and tuber diameter increased by 0.8-3.8 cm.
  4. Quality indicators improved, with the content of total sugars increasing by 1.5-2.9%.
  5. Sugar yield per hectare increased by 2.2 tons.
  6. The maximum result was achieved with a double application at a 3.0 kg/ha dose.
  7. All yield increases exceeded the experimental error and were statistically significant
